His Servants' Ministry Poems
Several years ago, the Lord started giving me
poems. Why? I don’t know. Quite possibly it is because He called me to teach His Word, and the poems are one of His ways of 'eqippping me' to do the job He has given me. All I know is that without those poems, we would never have had a prison ministry. As I have stated many times, I am not highly
educated, as the world sees education. And I had never cared
for poetry. My mother loved it, and as a kid, she would attempt
to read some to me. It just did not impress me. So, when these
‘words’ started running around in my mind, I did not know what
was going on.
At first, I tried to pretend that it was not happening.
When that did not work, I tried to run from the words. That
did not work either! I finally realized that this strange thing
happening to me was from God. So, I started writing the words
down. I knew the 'words' were not from me. Most of the poems come in the middle of the night. I
get up, and write what He has so graciously given to me.
I do not consider myself a poet. I simply am
God’s servant, the willing, human author of His poems! I hope they
touch you as they have touched many through the years.
Many of the poems will have Scripture verses
below them. These verses simply back up the poem Biblically. Many inmates use these poems for Bible study. We do not copyright any of our literature or poems. Please do use them to honor and glorify our awesome Triune God.
My husband and I are getting up in years and have some major health problems. We do not believe that God heals everyone as so many of today's churches falsely teach. God allows suffering at times for many reasons. Below are just a few examples of how suffering helps:
- Tests our faith;
- Takes away our pride;
- Teaches us patience;
- Drives us to God for comfort;
- Gives us more compassion for others;
- Makes us more like Christ;
- Draws us closer to God when we realize He keeps His Promises to never leave us, never forsake us.
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (KJV) . . . God has kept this Promise to both of us. He has NEVER left us when we were in need of Him.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. (KJV) . . . God did NOT heal the Godly apostle, and He has not healed my husband or me either. But friend, I have NO complaints! God has been SO good to us, and He continues to do so.
I knew this would be a big chore to get these poems rounded up and on to the web site. But praise God, He gave me strength to do it. Enjoy them.
Beside some poems you will see a date and "Message" added to the name of the poem. That poem was used in that date's "Monthly Message."
