I RESOLVE

Lord, I resolve that I will come in prayer,
For all those in need, and for the lost to care.
Lord, I resolve that I will show more deep love,
For my fellow man, and for my Lord above.

Lord, I resolve to be shed of sinful pride,
To be more humble, and let you be my guide.
Lord, I resolve to take time to read your Word,
And then to apply it, and live in accord.

Lord, I resolve to more compassionate be,
To those with pain of the mind, or their body.
Lord, I resolve to be content and happy,
Lord, it’s a blessing, that Christ set me free.

(Lu.18:1; 1 Thes.5:17; Ep.6:18; Col.3:12; 4:2; Jn.13:34-35;

With the coming of each new year, there are countless “resolutions” made. Few, are ever kept. What does “Resolve” mean? It means to change or transform. It means to determine, to reach a decision. When we resolve to do something, we generally have good intentions. We mean to follow through, but something happens, and we give it up.

As children of God, bearing the Name of Christ, we all need to go to the Lord in prayer. Here are a few things we might want to take to Him on behalf of others: #1 Be thankful for their faith and changed lives. #2 Ask God to help them know what He wants them to do. #3 Ask God to give them spiritual understanding. #4 Ask God to help them live for Him. #5 Ask God to give them more knowledge of Himself. #6 Ask God to give them strength to endure. #7 Ask God to fill them with joy, peace, strength and thankfulness.

Pride is hated by God. If we are not careful, it will encompass us like a chain (Ps.73:6). Our gentle Saviour was humble and meek. We should use Him as our Guide . . . in ALL things! If we humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord, He shall lift us up (Jam.4:10). We need to shed pride.

We as Christians, should not only ‘read’ God’s Word,, we should study it diligently, then applying what we have learned to our lives. To know what it states, and not obey it, is sin.

If we are not content, we are not happy, It is either too hot or too cold; too much rain or not enough rain; not enough money, complaining of simple aches and pains when another is confined to a wheelchair (or bed). We can find so many things to complain about. The Bible states that this is sin. 1 Cor. 10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. (KJV) Philip. 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: (KJV)

Years ago I came across this definition of ‘contentment.’ Author unknown “Contentment is the sufficiency that a Christian feels because he is satisfied with the situation in which God has placed him. Being content comes as a result of a close fellowship with God, and a total dependence on God’s perfect plan and purpose.” Great definition!

As you look back over the past year, can’t you see God working in your life? He never promised any of us smooth sailing. We all will have trials and tribulations, but He has graciously promised “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Heb.13:5). God has made so many great and precious Promises in His Word. Reach out and claim them for yourself. May God bless the coming year.

QUICKSAND

Life without Jesus is like quicksand,
We’ll sink, unless our Lord takes our hand.
Each day, in our sins, we sink some more,
On our own, we’ll never see Heav’n’s shore.

Sin’s quicksand drags us down; down so deep,
Our sins keep piling; such a great heap!
We’ll sink in the depths of the quagmire,
On our own, we’re headed for Hell-fire!

We grow so weary in the quicksand,
Sins push us deeper; we cannot stand.
Without Jesus’ help to lift us high,
We are doomed for Hell, by and by.

Such muddy waters do flood my soul,
Satan tries so hard to take control.
We need Christ Jesus to take our hand,
And pull us up, from the deep quicksand.

Turn your life over to Christ our Lord,
He just waits for your cry to be heard.
He’s there to help you rise from below,
Out of the quicksand; out of sin’s woe.

I had difficulty deciding which poem to choose this month. For some reason, the Lord kept bringing me back to this one. Perhaps the words are meant to touch a certain one out there. If you are reading this and do not know Jesus as your Saviour and Lord, and Friend, I humbly ask (beg) that you consider what He is able to do for you. Without Jesus, you are God’s enemy (Rom.5:10; Col.1:21-22; Jam.4:4). The worst sin you can commit is to reject God’s Son, Jesus (John 16:9). So many people try to do good works. It doesn’t matter how many good things you do, these deeds will NEVER save your soul from Hell. John 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. (KJV) God expects you to believe His Word and turn to Jesus to save your soul. So many think: “It can’t be that easy.” Well, it is! The MOMENT you turn to Christ, and admit you are a sinner, you become God’s friend. Now when God the Father, looks down on you, He does NOT see your sin, He sees the Blood of His Son which covers you, making you white as snow. Almighty God will NEVER turn His Back on the precious Blood of Jesus!

There are only two destinations when we die: Heaven for those who know Jesus as Saviour and Lord, and Hell for those who reject Jesus. There are only two roads today that lead to eternity. As you read this, you are on one of those two roads; the big broad one that leads to Hell OR the narrow road that leads to Heaven. Which road are you on this day?

The Scripture verses below the poem are meant to help you learn more of our Lord. I try not to write anything that I can’t back up by the Bible. The verses coincide with the poem.

ON CALV’RY’S ROAD

Jeering crowds did compass and enclose Him,
Things thru’ Blood and tears to Him looked dim.
He looked for pity; none could be found,
Looking for comfort, instead they did hound.

They had no mercy as they beat our Lord,
His bones were exposed, they’d cut him so hard.
All they that saw Him laughed Him to scorn.
His Head was Bloody from His ‘crown’ of thorns.

His visage was marred more than any man,
Despised, rejected, Him they did ban.
Stricken, afflicted, and smitten of God,
He bore our sins as Calv’ry’s road He trod.

Unending reproach did break His heart,
But from this shame He did not depart.
He became a stranger to His brothers,
Wasn’t recognized by them, or others.

He was so weak from the Blood He had lost,
But not e’vn once, did He regret the cost.
He just kept struggling up Calv’ry’s road,
He carried that ‘Cross’; such a heavy load.

When He reached the top of Calv’ry’s hill,
The crowd shouting terrible insults still.
They drove huge nails in His feet and hands,
He died in great agony, for all lands.

He took on the sins of the whole world,
As He hung on that ‘Cross’, our sins unfurled.
He paid that price to redeem our souls,
Our Lord and Saviour is in full control.

(Ps.22 & 69; Is.53)

Last year, when I felt these words on my heart, I kept disobeying God and not writing them down. I truly felt I was not worthy to pen our Lord’s agony. But, God always wins! I couldn’t get away from the ‘words’ He was giving me.

Easter is for the world . . . a time of bunnies and Easter egg hunts, etc. Resurrection Day is NOT what this time of year truly represents. It is the time our Lord Jesus was brutally crucified on a horrendous cross. Jesus is the Lamb of God, and only He can take sin away (John 1:29). He gave Himself for OUR sins (a Perfect Sacrifice), and He is the ONLY One who can deliver us from this present evil world (Gal.1:4; 1 Pet.1:18-19). His once for all Sacrifice was completely accepted by God the Father on OUR behalf (Eph.5:2; Heb.9:12; 9:28). We will NOT escape if we reject what Christ did on our behalf (Heb.2:3).

Christ died on the cross, but He did NOT stay dead! Our Lord Jesus is NOT dead! He LIVES!!! At this precise moment He is at God’s right Hand (Eph.1:20; Col.3:1; Heb.1:3,13; 8:1; 10:12; 12:2; 1 Pet.3:22), very much ALIVE and well. Jesus was the FIRST to be resurrected (1 Cor.15:20-23), but only the first! Jesus has promised to raise us up too (John 6:39, 40,44;54), and He does NOT lie!!! Praise God, He LIVES! And praise God that we too one day will be raised from the dead . Do you believe on Jesus? I pray that you know our Saviour!

IT’S YOUR DECISION

There’s a narrow path, rugged and steep,
And it goes down to canyons so deep.
This narrow road is just one of two,
In this life’s decisions, for me and you.

The other road is so smooth and broad,
Easier to travel; but away from God.
This life on Earth is where we decide;
Where in eternity, we will abide.

You’re at the junction; what will you do?
Just one can decide; and that is you.
Will you choose the narrow, rugged road?
Or the wide one, that leads to Hell’s abode?

Your soul lives forever; God does tell,
The decision is yours; where you’ll dwell.
The narrow path leads to Heaven’s gate,
And the broad road leads to Hell’s dark fate.

(Ec.12:7; Ps.49:15; 1 Co.15:54; 2 Co.5:8; Rev.20:4, 11-15; Jn.3:15-18,36; 5:24; 8:24; Mt.7:13-14)

As we travel through this life, we are headed for eternity. This life on Earth will end. This is not our permanent home, we are just pilgrims passing through. God has given us this time to make a decision . . . the greatest decision you will ever make, bar none! I cannot impress upon you just how important this decision is. WHERE do you want to spend eternity? I don’t think that you want to spend eternity in Hells’ dark agony.

There are two roads before you . . . a narrow , strait one. Strait means rigid, strict, constricted, sometimes difficult and distressing. If you take a stand for Christ, it will cost you something: old lifestyles, habits, maybe friends, maybe even family (physical) will turn against you and think you are crazy. But I can tell you this: the blessings you will receive form God FAR outweigh the things that you give up . . . both here and now and in eternity. This narrow way that few ever find, leads directly to Heaven, where God is. There will be NO more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor pain, no more night, no more hunger or thirst, no more evil nor wickedness. There will be nothing but GOOD there!
God will feed and care for us forever, and we will walk the street of gold.

BUT . . . what if you decide to choose the broad way? This is the road that most of the entire world is travelling. Jesus said there are MANY on this road. Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: [14] Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (KJV) Jesus also says here that the broad road leads to destruction, which is Hell. The devil wants you on that broad road and he will do everything that he can to make it inviting and to keep you there. Do NOT be fooled by his tactics. If you follow Satan on that broad, smooth road, you will slide right into Hell, along with Satan and his angels (Mat.25:41,46). EVERLASTING PUNISHMENT!!!

Don’t let false teachers tell you there is no Hell. They are WRONG! The Bible is RIGHT! Jesus taught more on Hell than He did any other subject. WHY??? Because He loves you and does NOT want you to go there. He warns over and over again about Hell! He wants you to be where He is (John 14:2-3), and He is the ONLY Way there (John 14:6).

Don’t let false teachers tell you that you will have another chance after death. NO way my friend. They are WRONG! Once you die physically, you face judgment! (Heb.9:27). You have NO second chance. NO reincarnation. NO purgatory. Your soul goes directly into God’s Presence! (Ecc.12:7).
Just Hell’s agony without Jesus!

The good news is: if you are still alive, you are NOT too late to accept God’s Gift of everlasting life in Heaven . . . by faith in Jesus (Eph.2:8-9; Rom.6:23).

DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE?

Do you see what I see in our Lord?
Such great love that He will not retard.
This wondrous love, to us freely giv’n,
Just thru’ this love, can we attain Heav’n.

Do you see what I see in His Cross?
Without His death, we’d be total dross.
Our vile sin would mount, causing God’s wrath,
Without His Cross, we’d be on Hell’s path.

Do you see what I see in His Blood?
Precious and holy; a cleansing flood.
As you kneel in sheer humility,
His Blood will cleanse you and make you free.

Do you see what I see in His scars?
He paid the price; death should have been ours.
Those nails did not hold Him to that tree,
Love held Him there, love for you and me.

Do you feel what I feel in my heart?
Such joy and peace, it won’t e’er depart.
Contentment like this, just He can give,
Such wonderful blessings as we live.

Do you see what I see in the world?
Wickedness by Satan, being hurled.
Christ will come in the clouds one day soon,
We must be ready; night, morn, or noon.

Jesus will not hold back or delay His love for us as God’s children. Both Jesus and God the Father love us! The Father made a Way possible for ALL God’s children to reside in Heaven with Him. His precious Son was made a Sacrifice for us. In the Old Testament, we see sacrificial animals being offered unto God. They were “without blemish” (Ex.12:5; Lev.22:19-22). This was looking forward to Christ. Since Christ was the “Sacrificial Lamb, without spot or blemish” (Ep.5:27; 1 Pet.1:18-19), and He was accepted by God the Father for our sins (John 15:13; Gal.1:4; Eph.5:2), it is no longer necessary to offer a “blood sacrifice” to God. Christ Jesus, our Saviour offered “one sacrifice for sins forever” (Heb.10:12). “For by one offering He hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified” (Heb.10:14). Praise be to God! If you have accepted Jesus, YOU are sanctified (set apart) as God’s children. Jesus, and ONLY Jesus has the power to make you God’s child (John 1:12-13). Without Jesus, there’s only HELL!

When you are washed by the Blood of Jesus, God no longer sees your sins, He will “pass over you” (Ex.12:13).

HAS JESUS PASSED BY

Has Jesus passed by your way today?
Did you notice? as you went your way?
Or were you too busy? doing your thing?
To take time to see the gift He did bring?

Did Jesus pass by? and you not see?
The wonderful gift, for you, so free.
Were you embarress’d to invite Him in?
Did you fear, your friends would mock and grin?

As you went on your merry old way.
Did you not see Jesus pass by today?
He just wants you to open the door,
He’ll give you the blessings He has in store.

Jesus won’t pass by, ‘less you reject,
His wondrous love, and gift so perfect.
Friend, please open the door of your heart,
He’ll not again pass by, nor depart.

This poem is speaking mainly speaking to those who do not know Christ, and to those who are ‘sitting on the fence’ (cannot make up their minds). He is ALWAYS there, ready for you to ask Him in. He will NEVER force Himself on you, or anyone else. He wants you to make the decision: to reject Him and keep on going along with the world, following Satan, right into Hell . . . OR . . . accept Him by believing He is who He said He was/is . . . the Christ, God’s only begotten Son, and Saviour of the world. ONLY Jesus can give you the marvelous Gift of eternal life in Heaven. He very plainly states: John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV) God has given Jesus ALL power of Heaven and earth (Mat.28:18; John 17:2).

Trusting Jesus makes you one of God’s children (John 1:12-13). God will then give you blessings that unbelievers CANNOT have: peace, joy, contentment and love, like you have never ever experienced before. All these come from the Holy Spirit who comes to live with us for ever (John 14:16; 2 John 2). An unbeliever CANNOT have these blessings, because they do NOT have the Holy Spirit within them. You must be God’s child (Rom.8:9), and this happens ONLY through Jesus!

This poem also speaks to Christians. At times we getr too busy in our lives to take advantage of all the blessings God has for Hid children. Don’t ever get too busy for God!!!

Ephes. 6:24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen. (KJV)

SOLDIERS OF THE CROSS

After Christ’s ascension to Heaven,
To the disciples, a job was giv’n.
They had great responsibility,
Spreading the Gospel, was their decree.

Soldiers of the Cross, so bold and true,
They obey’d our King, what e’er did ensue.
Loving, patient, they did persevere,
For they knew our Lord was always near.

ALL God’s children do humbly succeed,
These brave soldiers, in sowing the seed.
This job is not just for those who preach,
It’s for ALL Christians, the lost to reach.

Soldiers of the Cross, this is our chore,
To represent Jesus, on ev’ry shore.
An awesome privilege, on us to fall,
We must please our King, try to reach all.

If you know Christ, Him, you must obey,
Tell others of Jesus, ev’ry day.
Represent Him, by spreading His Word,
You’re a soldier of the Cross, for our Lord.

(Mt.24:14; 28:18-20; Mark13:10; 16:15; Luke 24:47-48; Ac.1:8; 2 Co.10:4; Eph.6:12; 1 Tim.6:12; 2 Tim.2:3-4)

Most people think that spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ is for the clergy and Sunday school teachers. Nothing could be further from the truth. The disciples of Jesus were simply men; born again into the family of God. They were God’s children, just as is anyone who accepts our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:12-13). There, starts the great responsibility, AND privilege, of serving Him. Jesus told the disciples: “Go ye therefore and teach all nations” (Mat.28:19). We as they, are given the SAME command! We must tell others of Jesus, or we are disobeying our Lord. In today’s time, God has no other way of reaching the lost ones, except those believers who are faithfully spreading the Gospel of Christ, the TRUE Word!

2 Tim. 2:3-4 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. [4] No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. (KJV) If you are a Christian, you will fight a spiritual battle every day of your life; for Satan will not let you alone. You must put on the whole armor of God (Eph.6:12-13), and stand firm; for you have on your side One who is much greater than Satan. 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (KJV)

Mature Christians need to teach “babes in Christ” and they in turn, will teach others, We need to pass on any and all that we learn. We should NEVER stop our work, just because a younger one comes along. ALWAYS SERVE HIM!

JESUS IS NEAR

When troubles come and burden you,
Jesus is near, and always true!
Life will at times seem hard to bear,
But Jesus is near, and He does care!

The burdens we bear in our life,
Other folk have known, as their strife.
We must cope with what God sends our way,
Jesus is near, He’ll brighten our day!

Heartaches and sorrows plague us all,
Jesus is near, He’ll not let us fall!
We’re to count as joy, all our grief,
For Jesus is near, to grant relief!

Staunch faith can quell our sharpest pain,
Each hurt is a step to Heav’n’s domain.
Jesus is near, to grant us aid,
If we’re weary, forlorn, or afraid.

What a wonderful Saviour we have! He really does care! He really does love us!

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (KJV) Sometimes we think God isn’t concerned about our troubles, especially if we are to blame because of our foolishness, or our out and out sin. But when we repent (be truly sorry) for what we’ve done, God is there like a loving parent. He will see us through our troubles, burdens, sorrow or pain. We should never submit to circumstances; but to Almighty God, who controls ALL circumstances! He will help us bear our each and every burden, no matter how heavy it is.

James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; (KJV) Just HOW can we “count it all joy” when we are faced with pain, grief, burdens, suffering, etc.? “Divers temptations” in this verse means many different kinds of trials. We need to be reconciled to the will of God. If we don’t trust Christ to help us . . . if we don’t learn from the experience, trials are meaningless! Our faith is being tested. Will the burden or trouble bring us closer to God? OR will it drive us away from Him?

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (KJV) God tests us for a reason! Only good will come out of it in the end. God NEVER makes mistakes. He NEVER says: “Oops” like we do! Trust Him, always! Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (KJV) He will NEVER leave us, NEVER forsake us!

Romans 11:36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. (KJV)

LIKE A ‘PIED PIPER’

Satan is like a ‘Pied Piper’,
Trying his best all souls to conquer.
Leading them on with things of beauty,
Enticing them, he thinks it’s his duty.

He pipes to them with musical notes,
They follow to the river, and he gloats.
In the river of sin they will drown,
Never to receive a Heav’nly crown.

The river of sin keeps rushing by,
Satan leads more there each day to die.
Tempting with riches and worldly fame,
But this is a most dangerous game.

Satan tempts with intrigue and power,
Leading lost souls away by the hour.
Illicit sex, money, and pleasure,
That river of sin; they think is treasure.

Are you following the ‘Pied Piper’?
All unbelievers with him confer.
He’ll lead and entice in many ways,
Too, he tempts the elect, all their days.

Are you following as he pipes his tune?
He’s leading to the river of doom.
ONLY JESUS can turn you around,
To the river of peace, where life abounds!

(2 Co.11:13-15; 2:11; Rev.20:15; Mt.4:1-11; 7:13-23; Mk.7:20-23;
Ep.6:12; 2 Thes.2:9; Ro.1:28-32; Gal.5:19-21; Jn.3:15-18,36; 8:24; 14:6)

Satan is extremely powerful. Jesus called him the “prince of this world” (John 12:31; 14:30; 16:11). Satan is sly, cunning, subtle, keen, shrewd, skillful, crafty, etc., and he is a LIAR and the father of all lies (John 8:44). He makes things SEEM right. He will make his road look good to you. BEWARE!!! Don’t listen to him or his ministers (2 Cor.11:13-15). They will lead you on the wide, smooth road that goes no other place except Hell, prepared for the devil and his angels (Mat.25:41). Hell is the “second death” (Rev. 20:14). The Bible speaks of three kinds of death: #1 Physical death is separation of body and spirit (James 2:26). #2 Spiritual death is separation from God (Eph.2:1). It is anyone without Jesus, an unbeliever. #3 Eternal death is eternal separation from God and all that is good and right (2 Thes.1:8-9).

Jesus taught more on Hell (I think), than any other subject, WHY?? Because He loves you and does NOT want you to go there. He wants you to be in Heaven with Him (John 14:2-3). God made a Plan so that ALL could go there IF they chose to do so! THE Plan is Jesus! BELIEVE who He is. BELIEVE He died on the cross for your sins. BELIEVE that He can keep you from Hell. BELIEVE that He is the One and ONLY Saviour of the world. God made salvation simple so that even a small child could attain it. Just BELIEVE by FAITH! Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. (KJV)

He blesses us daily as we live.

Sitting beside a wonderful stream,
The beauty is perfect, like a dream!
List’ to the water rippling; close your eyes,
Such peacefulness will just hypnotize.

Look at the majestic mountain there,
And the eagle flying without a care.
God surely does take care of His own,
Ev’n to the sparrow, His love is shown.

Gazing down in a canyon so deep,
Gorgeous colors array cliffs so steep.
Things that are low, things high; all He made,
The barren desert and the marshy glade.

In each sunset, a dazzling array,
His great handiwork, He does display.
Always to us such blessings He gives,
We need to thank Him, each day we live!

Night pulls the dark down like a blanket,
The wondrous moon and stars are then set.
God made this time for man to rest,
From toil and weariness, we are blest.

A wondrous God we have there above,
In so many ways, He shows His love.
He sent His one Son, to save my soul,
And He put my name, on Heaven’s roll!

God made EVERYTHING from NOTHING! I cannot explain this. No one can! But, we are to BELIEVE in faith! He made the sun for light in the day; moon and stars for light at night. He performs these things on schedule every day! The oceans keep the boundaries given to them. We cannot change any of these things. We cannot measure the vast Heavens. We cannot figure out the foundation of the Earth! Our magnificent God controls ALL!

As we look around us at the beauty He has created; how can anyone say there is no God? To the top of the tallest mountain, to the floor of the deepest canyon, there is beauty! And all the wondrous creatures He has made, small and large, is astounding, including mankind. Only God could create with such awesome power and wisdom. PRAISE HIM!!!

THANK HIM FOR EVERYTHING

Thank Him for the sunshine, and for the rain,
The beautiful birds and their sweet refrain.
Thank Him for the morning, dewy and bright,
And for the sunset, that comes before night.

Thank Him for all your loved ones so dear,
And abundant blessings, year after year.
Thank Him each morn’ as you rise from your bed,
With Him on your side, you’ve nothing to dread!

Thank Him for your home, and the food you eat,
The clothes you wear, and the shoes on your feet.
Thank Him for friends He has given to you,
They are special blessings we can’t construe.

Thank Him for the trials that come your way,
Though at times they seem our nerves to fray.
But in the end, they will benefit you,
Making you stronger to see you through.

Thank Him for our family in the Lord,
Always love them, and be in one accord.
Thank Him each time you come in the church door,
Remember you came to praise and adore.

Thank Him for Jesus, our Saviour and Lord,
And for the Gospel that comes by His Word.
No one can come to the Father but by Him,
We must tell others, or their chance is dim.

We thank you Jesus, for your wondrous love,
Sent to us sinners, from the Father above.
We thank you for life in Heaven beyond,
Where we’ll live with you, since you we have found.

Do you thank God for the things He does for You? I think that we all fall short on this. When He blesses you, thank Him! When another person does something for you, thank them! Teach your children to do the same. We have SO much to be thankful for! Look around you; there are many much worse off than you are.

When most people think of being well-off, they immediately think of material possessions. Jesus’ idea is MUCH different! Read Matthew 5:1-12. Thank Him for the trials that made you see that you needed Him; convictions that made you mourn over sin, and to realize that you are NOTHING without Him (John 15:5). Thank Him for joys and sorrows that He sent to help you realize you don’t know nearly enough about Him. Thank Him for showing mercy to you, that you, in turn, may show mercy to others. Thank Him for helping you be pure in heart, for being a peacemaker. Thank Him for any persecution that you suffer for His sake, for it will help you to see (just a little), of what He went though for us. Thank Him always, for all things. Praise and thank our wonderful God! He is worthy of your praise! He is a loving, awesome God!

1 Thes. 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (KJV)

A MANGER FOR A BED

From Nazareth unto Bethlehem,
Went Joseph and Mary, both of them.
All went to be taxed, the decree,
Ev’ry on into his own city.

They were lowly peasants, with no fame,
And while they were there, Mary’s time came.
And there she brought forth her first born son,
No one had concern, no, not one!

A lowly manger was His first bed,
‘Twas no room at the inn to lay His head.
She wrapped her Son in swaddling clothes,
Laid Him in a manger, can you suppose?

Shepherds abode in the same country,
Keeping their flock from their enemy.
As they kept watch all thru’ the still night,
The angel of the lord came in great light.

Round ‘bout them shone the glory of the Lord,
They were sore afraid; as this they heard:
I bring tidings of great joy, do not fear,
The Saviour is born, and He is near.

They came with haste, and the babe they found,
He lay in a manger; so profound!
God, born as a Man, came to save the world,
God’s wisdom thru’ Christ is unfurled.

(Luke 2:1-20)

The story of Jesus’ Birth never ceases to amaze me. Such a humble beginning for the Man, Jesus. He left the glory and comfort of His Heavenly Home, where He was worshipped and glorified, to come to Earth to die FOR US, in complete humility and agony. He came to bring us the Gift of eternal life (Eph.2:8-9; Rom.6:23). It’s there, for the entire world . . . but only a FEW ever reach out and accept the most precious Gift this world will ever know! A gift is not yours, unless you reach out and take it. Have you reached out and grabbed hold of the Gift that Jesus offers? ONLY Jesus can give you eternal life in Heaven (John 14:1-6). ONLY Jesus can give you this irreplaceable Gift!

Words of Wisdom
It’s never too early to receive Christ; but at any moment it could be too late!
