Poems About This Life On Earth

Great storms may come about, thunders may roll,
My path may be dark, as onward I stroll.
I do not ask for all pleasant to be,
All I ask of you, let me trust in Thee.

Tho’ my life shall become a rugged way,
You shall be my power, on thru’ each day.
A smooth easy path I’ll not ask of you,
Just let me trust in Thee, in all that I do.

Trials and temptations will come; one by one,
We all have a race, that we have to run.
You promise grace to overcome each day,
Just let me trust in Thee, all of the way.

Your strength, O’ Lord, is made perfect in me,
For I am weak on my own, without Thee.
I know that with You, I can do it all,
So let me trust in Thee, lest I do fall.

Let me be content, whatever state I’m in,
Don’t let me doubt you; for that would be sin!
Please give me strength to go on life’s way,
Let me trust in Thee always, day after day.

Scripture verses for above poem:
(Ps.16:8; Ps.34:18; Ps.145:18; Jer.23:23; Gen.28:15:
Ex.33:14; Is.43:2; Ac.17:27; Mt.28:20; 2 Co.12:9)

Are you ready for the coming of the Lord?
Are you really grounded in His living Word?
He’s able to keep what you commit to Him,
Not like all the cults, that follow ev’ry whim.

Do you know for certain that you are saved?
Or, do you follow Satan, and are depraved?
Will you be ready on that day He does come?
Or will you continue, away from Him to roam?

Are you grounded in the power of your faith?
Are you ready for that fateful day of death?
Our time here on Earth is so very short,
Are you letting Satan Heav’nly life abort?

Time is uncertain; like vapour in the air,
We’re here a while; then gone: do you know where?
Do you know the ‘place’ where forever you’ll dwell?
Let me ask you this: is it Heaven, or Hell?

Are you ready to meet the Almighty God?
All will stand before Him, the world abroad.
God has made ‘a’ plan to save your very soul,
Accept His plan, Jesus; you’re on Heaven’s roll!

Change your destination, if you’re on the wrong path,
Just trust in Jesus, will keep you from God’s wrath.
Believe God; trust Jesus; let Him take control,
And you will be ready, when He comes for your soul.

Scripture verses for above poem:
(1 Pet.1:5; 2 Pet.3:10; 1 Thes.5:2; 1 Thes.4:14-17; 1 Jn.3:6-10;
1 Co.3:13-15; 2 Tim.1:12; Jam.4;14; Ro.14:10; Ep.1:6-7;
Jn.3:3-8,15-18,36; Jn.5:24; Jn.8:24; Rev.20:11-15)

Do you gripe and complain when things go awry?
Did you consider instead, to look to the sky?
Our help cometh from our Creator, the Lord,
Turn unto Him, and your prayer will be heard.

Do you ever find yourself down in the dumps?
Do others around you think you are a grump?
Our help cometh in the Name of the Lord,
Just call on Him, and things won’t be so hard.

Do you feel sorry for yourself, time and again?
He’s always cared for you, from way back when.
God hasn’t promised us an easy path to go,
But He will be with us; a blessing to know!

Do you tell God what you think He should do?
Do you think He’s not smart enough to construe?
He knows better that you ever can or will,
Why don’t you turn to Him, and learn to be still?

We should never question His Almighty will,
Let Him have His way; He will fill the bill!
“He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased,”
All His children He does love, and tries to appease.

His Book states: “Ye shall not tempt the Lord thy God,”
We are not to murmur, says His holy Word.
So we should not bellyache, gripe or complain.
It could be so much worse, then think of the strain!

All things work together for good, if you love God,
It’s not good that we God tempt, and always prod.
He will only give His very best to you,
Times of stress makes us strong, He is always true.

Forgiveness is a v’ry tricky thing!
We must forgive, to receive God’s blessing.
When we are wrong’d by word or deed,
We must forgive; God’s Word we must heed!

Lord, forgive us, as we forgive others,
But, have you truly forgiv’n your brother?
Do evil thoughts of malice still pursue?
Do you want God to forgive, as you do?

“Yeah-but,” you don’t know what he has done,
Is this how your excuses are begun?
Do you carry a grudge, constantly,
When God forgives us, it is totally!

“Yeah-but,” she had some awful words to say,
I want to hurt her, in the v’ry same way.
We must not with malice, carry this hate,
We must forgive, and be compassionate.

As our Saviour on that horrid cross hung,
Only forgiving words came from His tongue!
We must imitate Christ in all we do,
No “yeah-buts” must e’er come, from me and you!

The above poem came after a sermon by Carl Hudson

Lord, I am like the humble mistletoe,
With no root of my own, in the soil to grow.
I just cling to my tree, Jesus, my Lord,
I not make it without Him and His Word!

Like the mistletoe depends on a tree,
For its total existence; all so free,
I depend on Jesus for my very all,
Just a day without Him, I’d surely fall.

Only with Jesus can I prosper and live,
All I need in life, He surely does give!
Like the mistletoe, I’ll continue to cling,
And until I die, His praises I’ll sing!

Scripture verses for above poem:
Phil.4:13,19; Col.1:11; Ep.3:16; Is.41:10)

As we live for Christ, many forces we face,
To survive but a moment, we need God’s grace!
Life is a struggle, and desperate indeed,
To the counseling of God, we must heed!

Filth is rampant, in movies and T.V.,
Social upheaval o’erflows, you must agree!
The “real world” is a superficial facade,
God clearly states it is destin’d to fade.

Satan tries all Truth, to twist and distort,
On God’s wisdom and pow’r, we must resort!
Our eyes and minds Satan strives to deceive,
We must be on guard, that we don’t believe!

Life is a struggle; a constant warfare,
But Jesus our burden, will gladly share!
When worries and troubles greatly annoy,
Wisdom and pow’r from Christ, we must employ!

The armor of God is a precious aid,
When we wear it, we need not be afraid!
When the “day of evil” comes, we’ll stand our ground,
Because wisdom and pow’r in Christ is found!

Truth, righteousness, and the Gospel of peace,
When we put on Christ, these blessings increase!
Salvation is your helmet, God’s Word your sword,
Hold steady your shield, which is faith in the Lord!

Without ceasing, God’s children should always pray,
To change our darkness to bright shining day!
Resist the devil; Christ will make him flee,
Life’s struggles will give way to victory!

Scripture verses for above poem:
Ephesians 6:10-18; 1 Thes.5:16-23; Jam.4:7
Christ is our Armor: Truth (John 14:6)
Righteousness (Ro.10:4; 1 Cor.1:30) Peace (Jn.14:27; Jn.16:33; Phil.4:7)
Faith (Ro.5:1) Salvation (Jn. 3:15-18, 1 Jn. 5:11-12)
Sword of the Spirit (Heb.4:12; Jn.15:3; Jn.17:17; Jn.10:30) Prayer (Jn.16:24)

We must "put on Christ" each day that we live.

It matters to God what His children do,
He’s not indifferent to me or you.
Our weal or woe are of concern to God,
No matter where on this Earth we trod.

God knows our every grief and sorrow,
He is always near, now, and tomorrow.
Of your head, He knows the number of hairs,
Such a loving God, and One who cares.

It matters to God what His children say,
As we go on our Christian path each day.
We shouldn’t gossip, curse or tell lies,
And we shouldn’t any way, Christ deny!

God knows our every thought and deed,
To His children, He will always take heed.
He waits for us to come in prayer,
And He will answer you, for He does care!

It matters to God where His children go,
In this earthly life of joy or woe.
He wants for us to imitate His Son,
Take Christ with you as your day’s begun.

God shall supply our every need,
He knows our desires, He knows our greed.
We must trust Him completely, all our days,
For His love and care are with us always.

Ep.2:8-9; 1 Jn.3:1; 1 Jn.4:9,16-18)

I cannot know what lies ahead,
I do not know if it’s joy, or dread.
As I sojourn on this Earth today,
I do know this; He will show the way!

I cannot know ‘bout tomorrow’s path,
I do not know, what God’s storehouse hath.
I cannot see beyond this hour,
But I do know this; He will empower!

I cannot know what may befall,
I do not know if trials be great or small.
I cannot see the road; if steep or straight,
But I do know this; I’ll see Heav’n’s gate!

I cannot know what waits in store,
I do not know if tests be less or more.
I cannot see what all God will give,
But I do know this; I’ll always live!

I cannot know why me He chose,
I do not know, I can’t e’vn suppose.
I cannot see God’s pure perfect mind,
But I do know this; all lost sheep He’ll find.

I do know when Christ comes in the clouds,
With the trump of God; sounding so loud,
My name He will call, so loud and clear,
I’m going to Heav’n; I have no fear.

God ne’er did promise skies always blue,
There are times when He’ll send a storm too.
God ne’er did promise sun without rain,
There are times we’ll be subject to pain.

God ne’er did promise no trouble or woe,
But He’ll be with us, His grace to show.
Trials and temptations will on us come,
‘Til that fateful day He calls us ‘home’.

God ne’er did promise roads smooth and wide,
But when things get rough; He’ll be our ’Guide’.
Should our path get treacherous and steep,
We know He’s there, His strength we can reap.

God ne’er did promise life without toil,
But He’s near, and our efforts won’t foil.
Rivers of waters; raging and deep,
Should not scare; for His children He’ll keep.

God DID PROMISE His children great things,
True love, mercy, and forgiveness, He brings!
Strength, rest, peace, and joy, all from above,
Grace and compassion, from a God of love!

Life without Jesus is like quicksand,
We’ll sink, unless our Lord takes our hand.
Each day, in our sins, we sink some more,
On our own, we’ll never see Heav’n’s shore.

Sin’s quicksand drags us down; down so deep,
Our sins keep piling; such a great heap!
We’ll sink in the depths of the quagmire,
On our own, we’re headed for Hell-fire!

We grow so weary in the quicksand,
Sins push us deeper; we cannot stand.
Without Jesus’ help to lift us high,
We are doomed for Hell, by and by.

Such muddy waters do flood my soul,
Satan tries so hard to take control.
We need Christ Jesus to take our hand,
And pull us up, from the deep quicksand.

Turn your life over to Christ our Lord,
He just waits for your cry to be heard.
He’s there to help you rise from below,
Out of the quicksand; out of sin’s woe.

When into the water, a stone I throw,
Such pretty ripples, wander to and fro.
This makes me think, of what we should do,
Tell others of Christ Jesus, me and you!

Serving Christ, is like a pretty little wave,
For we are reaching out, lost souls to save!
Each one we reach, has a ‘ripple’ effect,
Jesus’ command, we must not neglect!

Just as ripples, are caused by a stone,
A lost one is reached, by God’s Word, alone!
So we must the Gospel, to lost souls take,
Jesus’ command, we must not forsake!

Just as ripples wander to the shore,
God’s Word into hearts, we must try to pour!
Then that person, will reach to another,
And into God’s family, comes yet one other!

As a ripple, each one of us must be,
Reaching out to lost souls, constantly!
Do you tell others, just Jesus can save?
Do you ripple, as a pretty little wave?

He knows what’s in your heart, dear friend,
There’s no use, with Him to pretend.
He knows your thoughts, every one,
He knows the end, ‘fore it’s begun!

He knows if you love Him for real,
He knows true and false, when you kneel.
There’s no use to lie, when you pray,
He sees what your heart does portray.

There is NO way, to hide from God,
He fills all Heav’n and Earth, so broad.
He searches the heart, of each one,
He knows hearts of men; missing NONE!

He knows your thoughts, that they are in vain,
He reads those thoughts, so very plain.
Your thoughts are worthless, ‘less for Him,
And the path you walk, will be dim.

Do not try, any thought , to hide,
Make sure your heart is opened wide.
When you go to His throne of grace,
You don’t want Him to hide His Face!

An unbeliever, God will not hear,
Accept Christ FIRST, His Word is clear!
Thru’ His Blood, we approach the throne,
Only His Blood, our sins do atone.

Is there a barrier in the way?
That keeps you from Christ this very day?
There are many excuses you can make,
But to reject Christ is your worst mistake.

Are you afraid of what folks will say?
When love for Christ Jesus you display?
Are you too busy in the life you live?
To accept Him and the gift He gives?

Do worldly things come ‘tween you and He?
These barriers are your enemies.
Riches, glory, and fame and power,
Are they ‘tween Christ and you this hour?

You’ve done much evil and wickedness,
You say the Father would never bless.
The Blood of Christ will wash white as snow,
Just open His Book, He wants you to know.

What’s the barrier ‘tween He and you?
If you remove it He will rescue.
Lust of the flesh, passion, or pleasure,
Are these what you consider treasure?

What e’er the barrier in your road,
Remove it if you want Heav’n’s abode.
Rejection of Christ leads to Hell’s gate,
Accepting Him grants you Heav’n so great.

Is your life ablaze, with God’s Holy pow’r?
Does your light shine brightly, hour after hour?
Do you tell others, what Jesus can do?
Do you His lost sheep, intently pursue?

Do you willingly serve Jesus, the King?
Do you each and ev’ry day, His praises sing?
Do you thank Him for blessings He bestows?
At His precious Name, does your soul glow?

Do you have Christ’s peace, way deep down inside?
Does His own Spirit, within you abide?
Does your heart rejoice, ev’ry single day?
The hope you possess; do you proudly display?

Do you really consider Christ, your Lord?
Are you steadfast, in studying His Word?
Do you truly believe, and trust Him always?
The commandments He gives; do you obey?

When God takes you, will you go to Heaven?
Will a reserv’d mansion, to you be given?
Do you know that Christ is the only way,
To enter the bliss of Heaven someday?

There’s a world of ‘make believe’ today,
From God and His Word, most folks do stray.
They won’t acknowledge or admit their sin,
The road to repentance, they’ll not begin.

They say right is wrong, and wrong is right,
They say white is black, and black is white.
Things must be ‘politically correct’,
And Christ as Saviour, they do reject!

They go to church, “To worship” they say,
But God is far from them, ev’ry day!
God’s true Word, they will not tolerate,
So Satan’s doctrines, preachers do inflate!

They practice sin, and think nothing’s wrong,
For there are many others in their throng!
Abortion’s fine; too adultery,
Also homosexuality.

This ‘make believe’ world, we must reject,
Christians instead must God’s Word accept!
We must live with eternity in mind,
To Satan’s deception, we must be blind.

Only God’s children will access Heaven,
When they accept the GIFT God has given!
The ‘true world’ is held by God’s own Son,
Just thru’ Christ can eternal life be won!

Worry not, what tomorrow may bring,
Tho’ it may be a sad, troubling ‘thing.’
One with great power, by us will stand,
One day at a time, He’ll take our hand!

We may face many failures and fears,
Sorrow or loneliness may bring tears.
The One with great love will never leave,
One day at a time, comfort we receive!

On our road of life, we make mistakes,
But our great Wise One, never forsakes!
Tho’ there be many burdens to bear,
One day at a time, Jesus is there!

Sometimes we suffer, and have much pain,
And goals we’ve set, we cannot attain.
We hurt, we tire, and we are so weak,
One day at a time, strength we should seek!

We need be patient, loving and strong,
And cast out all in our life that’s wrong.
Tho’ sorrow that comes, causes much grief,
One day at a time, Christ gives relief!

Yesterday’s gone; tomorrow may not be,
Concern should be for today’s mercy!
He’s there with courage for you each hour,
One day at a time, Christ gives us pow’r!

We are never alone, day or night,
His grace is sufficient in any plight!
None of God’s children e’er walk alone,
One day at a time, the path is shown!

Lord, I’m not worthy of your royal grace,
Yet all my evil sins you do erase!
All because I have trusted your dear Son,
Your undeserved kindness I have won!

Lord, of your compassion, I’m not worthy,
Yet my awesome God has pity on me!
All because Christ Jesus I did accept,
In troubles or sorrow you will protect!

I’m not worthy of your patience that endures,
You tolerate my sins when Satan lures.
All because Christ’s precious Blood justifies,
Jesus’ righteousness you’ll never deny.

I’m not worthy of all your forgiveness,
Yet you cast my sins away, as you bless.
All because Jesus paid the total price,
He died on the Cross, the supreme Sacrifice!

I’m not worthy of your amazing mercy,
Yet your anguish streams so abundantly.
All because I’m renewed by Christ’s Spirit,
And Him I obey, and my life submit.

I’m not worthy of your enormous love,
Yet it pours liberally from above!
All because I have trusted your dear Son,
Eternal life in heaven, I have won!

When my soul leaves this shell of mortal clay,
And my body in the ground does decay,
As my soul abides in eternal rest,
Lord, I pray I can say: “I did my best.”

When my spirit goes to a better place,
And I finally meet Jesus, -- Face to face,
When He asks me if I withstood the test,
Lord, I pray I can say: “I did my best.”

When I gratefully walk that golden road,
Near my “mansion” that waits in Heav’n’s abode,
What comes to mind, is but one request,
Lord, I pray I can say: “I did my best.”

When I sing praises to His amazing love,
In the vastness of Heav’n, high above.
With countless others in eternity,
I’ll shout: “I did my best, I have victory!”

So often, I do things I should never do,
I don’t feel worthy of His love so true.
Evil is present within me; deep inside,
The war is constant with the Spirit who abides.

I can feel the apostle Paul’s agony,
The torments he felt, are the same for me.
In Romans seven: fourteen thru’ twenty five,
Paul struggl’d with sin, as I do strive.

When I want to do right, I always do wrong,
The sin deep within me, is ever so strong.
On my own, I am rotten thru’ and thru’,
Yet the Spirit persuades, right things to pursue.

I feel torn apart, by the old me and the new,
If it were not for Christ, I could not continue.
I don’t feel worthy, when Satan does oppress,
Yet Jesus encourages, as He does bless.

My humble life is His, tho’ I’m unworthy,
How He could love me is a great mystery.
I’m suppos’d to imitate Him, in all things,
Yet evil takes hold, and that guilt surely stings.

How wretched I am, yet You chose sinful me,
That’s why I must serve You for eternity.
How I thank You Jesus, for what You have done,
Stand by me Lord, and help me, evil to shun.

Scripture verses for above poem:
(Rom.7:14-25; Gal.5:16-26; Ep.4:22-32; Col.3:1-17)

When you turn to Christ to save your soul,
Submit completely; give Him control!
The road of life is bumpy, hold on tight,
You cannot survive, with your own might!

Hold on tight to Jesus, with a firm hold,
For He’s leading to the City of Gold!
Tho’ trials and sorrows do surround,
The blessing of His grace, does abound!

Grab hold and hold on tight, to our Lord,
Only Jesus can keep sin’s door barred.
Troubles arise like a violent sea,
Just Christ can stabilize you and me.

Satan will lure with temptations great,
His pow’r we must not underestimate!
Firmly grip Jesus, and hold on tight,
Don’t turn loose, or you’ve lost the fight!

Hold on tight to Christ, our precious Lord,
Grasping His goodness, all else discard.
Don’t be shaken loose by anything,
The tighter the grip, the greater the blessing!

Hold on tight to Christ; clutch securely,
For just He can give life eternally.
Let nothing, from Him, pull you away,
For we must think beyond, this present day.
