Cross Of Christ

ABOVE AND BEYOND

Above and beyond, Christ Jesus did go,
Enduring great pain, as He suffered so.
By God the Father, our Saviour was sent,
Willingly He came, and to the cross He went.

Above and beyond, is Christ’s love for us,
All God’s children, to Him are precious.
Loving us, guiding us, each day anew,
Christ Jesus looks after, God’s chosen few.

Above and beyond, Christ goes for me and you,
With an awesome love, that’s forever true.
He will never leave, He will not forsake,
If a commitment to Him, we will make.

As I do consider my life this day,
Do I love Him enough? Do I obey?
Do I go above and beyond, for my Lord?
Or do I turn my back, on Him and His Word?

Above and beyond, NO! I do not go,
I fall so short, causing Christ sorrow.
I must love Him more, with my heart, soul and mind,
Then vast treasures of blessings, I will find.

ALL FOR THE LIKES OF ME

You left Heaven’s most splendid glory,
And came to Earth, for the likes of me.
You gave up comfort, for grief and pain,
That sinful me, might have eternal gain.

You left the beauty of Heaven above,
And came to man’s evil, all in love.
Tremendous sorrow and agony,
You did go thru’, for the likes of me.

You left Heaven, as great God and King,
And came to Earth, with simply nothing.
You became a humble Servant here,
For the likes of me, that I might not fear.

You left all of the Heavenly hosts,
Came to the sin, of the earthly coasts.
You left the praise and glory above,
And came down to the likes of me, in love.

You left it all; and here had no home,
Left riches; and in poverty, did roam.
Was not accepted, or recognized,
For the likes of me; ‘tis hard to surmise.

Wonderful Jesus, Saviour and Lord,
Died on the Cross, as told in your Word.
All done in great love, given so free,
To take sin away, from the likes of me.

AN AWESOME PLACE

The Cross of Christ was a place of shame,
But for that purpose, our Saviour came.
That Cross was a place of self-sacrifice,
And the work He accomplished did suffice.

The Cross was a place of God’s mercy,
God sent His Son, to die, for you and me.
That Cross was a place of pow’r, complete,
The sins of us all, it can delete.

The Cross is a place of atonement,
Jesus’ Blood, alone, is sufficient.
That Cross is where Christ did intercede,
My friend, Christ Jesus is all we need.

The Cross is a place of great promise,
Giving us the hope of Heaven’s bliss.
That Cross is a place of justice sure,
Righteousness promised by Christ so pure.

The Cross of Christ is where we must go,
To avoid the verdict of Hell below.
Kneel at His Cross, Christ will cleanse your soul,
And will grant you Heaven as your goal.

AT THE FOOT OF THE CROSS

We must start at the foot of the Cross,
For our soul’s in danger, we’re at loss.
And when we kneel in that awesome place,
At that very moment, you’ll feel God’s grace.

Friend, let me tell you; you need to know,
There is Heaven; also Hell below!
Christ died on that Cross, to set you free,
From your vile sins, and Hell’s agony.

You’re God’s enemy, without the Cross,
Reject Christ, and to God, you are dross.
To the prison of Hell, He will send,
Just Christ’s work on the Cross, makes amends.

God hates those who try to enter in
The gates of Heaven, still full of sin.
Only His Son, can take sin away,
Go to the foot of the Cross, this day.

God has provided only ONE Way,
To enter Heaven’s wondrous array.
Accept what Jesus did for us all,
He paid our debt, so Hell won’t befall.

Go to the foot of the Cross this day,
His precious Blood washes sin away.
We each need to think more of His Cross,
Without our Saviour, we’re total loss.

BEHOLD, THE MAN

He was a Man of humility,
He left Heav’n’s glory, for you and me.
Scorned and despised by most men,
Friend, this will never happen again!

He was a Man of great suffering,
He bled and died, salvation to bring.
Died on that Cross, for me, and for you,
He had a special love, deep and true.

He was a Man, absolutely pure,
The perfect Lamb of God; our Saviour.
Just He can cleanse us with His precious Blood,
Kneel at the Cross; experience that Flood!

He is a Man of great dignity,
He’s KING OF KINGS; He’s nobility!
Highest in honor; He’s LORD OF LORDS,
Christ Jesus, worthy to be adored.

He is a Man of wondrous glory,
The One who holds Heaven’s only ‘key’.
Worship, adoration, radiant praise,
To this Man, our God, gratefully raise.

CALVARY’S CROSS

On Calvary’s Cross; He died for me,
Took away my sins, and set me free.
His suffering can’t ever be told,
Pain, for me, to bring me to God’s fold.

He was mocked; they did spit on Him,
Plucked out His beard; what awful sin!
They gave Him a ‘crown’ of sharp thorns,
A purple robe, His body adorned.

His own people wanted Him to die,
He wasn’t “Messiah”, this they deny!
They hated Him without any cause,
On His way to die, there was applause.

On Calvary’s Cross, He bled and died,
An awful death; He was crucified.
Unmercifully, they Christ did beat,
They drove huge nails in His hands and feet.

We all need to go back to that ‘Cross’,
Without His precious Blood, we’re all lost!
He died there to pay sin’s penalty,
And remove God’s wrath, for eternity.

CALV’RY’S TREE

The flames of Hell will never touch me,
For Christ bore my sins, on Calv’ry’s Tree.
I’ll stand at the Judgment, so secure,
An unworthy sinner; but O’ so sure!

From shackles of Satan, I am free,
I have perfect rest and liberty.
At Calv’ry’s Tree, my chains broke and fell,
Now His awesome love within me does dwell.

His priceless, pure Blood; my ransom paid,
For on Jesus, all my sins were laid.
From sin’s horrid bondage, I am free,
For Christ died for me, on Calv’ry’s Tree!

Calv’ry’s Tree has truly sealed my peace,
The sorrows Christ bore, made mine to cease!
His loving pow’r made all my sin be gone,
I am no longer the devil’s pawn!

Because Jesus died on Calv’ry’s Tree,
I have eternal life, waiting for me!
One day I’ll walk on that street of gold,
For Christ in my heart, I firmly hold!

THANK YOU, JESUS!

CROSS of CHRIST

To the cross of Christ, we all must go,
To avoid the depths, of Hell below.
God the Father, devised just one Plan,
Accept Christ Jesus, the Son of Man.

Christ left the glory, of Heav’n above,
All because, of His amazing love.
Jesus is God, and always has been,
Yet despised and rejected by men.

While on Earth as Man, Jesus was poor,
No place to lay His Head, yet He did endure.
He knew all things, so He knew He’d die,
His own people shouted: “Crucify!”

The cross of Christ, means so much to me,
Believing, gives life eternally.
Believing on Christ, and Him crucified,
God gives us His Spirit, to abide.

God forbid that I should e’er glory,
Save in the cross, of Christ’s victory.
I have peace, just thru’ the Blood of His cross,
What the world offers, I must count as loss.

Just the cross of Christ, makes me God’s friend,
Without Jesus, to Hell I’d descend.
We are not condemn’d, if we believe,
Believing not - - - God’s wrath we receive.

Eternal life in Heav’n, God offers to all,
But rejecting Christ’s cross, Hell will befall.
Christ paid it all, paid sin’s penalty,
Belief in His cross, gives us victory.

Son of Man” is used in the New Testament 84 times as the unique title of the Saviour.

DYING ON THAT CROSS

He was betrayed by a ‘trusted’ friend,
He knew Judas would betray in the end.
False witnesses did rise up and accuse,
But He opened not His mouth to refuse.

He gave His back to that cruel scourge,
Unmerciful they were; without urge!
Pain and agony, beyond compare,
His bones did look upon Him and stare.

They plucked the hair from off His cheeks,
Mocked and insulted; but He was meek.
Made Him a ‘crown’ of sharpest thorns,
Crushed it on His Head to adorn.

As He trod Calvary’s road that day,
The jeering crowd barely gave Him way.
Such awful hate, made His heart to break,
Couldn’t they see, this was for their sake?

That relentless scourging, left Him so weak,
He’d lost much Blood, He could barely speak.
As He struggled to carry His ‘Cross’,
He ne’er did think, all this to be loss.

When He reached the top of Calv’ry’s hill,
That jeering throng, was with Him still!
They drove huge nails in His hands and feet,
Making so sure their job was complete.

He died on that Cross, to save your soul,
Most don’t think so, but He’s in control.
Only He can grant the ‘key’ to Heav’n’s gate,
trust and accept Him, ‘fore it’s too late.

FROM CALVARY

Such lonely cries He made, from Calvary,
Not ev’n one did aid, in His agony!
What He did suffer, is beyond compare,
Yet most don’t think of this; worse, they don’t care!

He suffered beatings beyond belief,
Not one other person, had that much grief.
He looked for comforters; yet He found none,
Didn’t they realize, this was God’s Son?

He was despised and rejected of men,
A Man of sorrows; the world did condemn.
Stricken, afflicted, and smitten of God,
His cries from Calvary, for the world abroad.

He carried our sorrows, and bore our griefs,
And not ev’n the Father, gave Him relief!
The Lord laid on Him, our iniquity,
An ultimate price, to set our soul free!

Full of heaviness; reproach broke His Heart,
Their insults and mocking, would not depart.
They then pierced both, His Feet and Hands,
They crucified Him! He died for all lands!

His sinless soul was an off’ring for sin,
Only thru’ CHRIST can salvation begin!
God’s Righteous Servant justifies many,
For He has borne all our iniquity!

GETHSEMANE

On the Mount of Olive’s western slope,
Jesus went to pray, to help Him cope.
The garden was called “Gethsemane,”
O’er the brook of Cedron, on the way.

The usual place of His secret prayer,
Solitude was what, He needed there.
Holy mem’ries there, His faith did aid,
Many heart-felt prayers from there were made.

With Him, He wanted He wanted His friends to be,
That one last time, in Gethsemane.
His soul was engross’d in deep sorrow,
His heart was heavy from all the woe.

To the disciples He said: “Watch and pray,”
But they fell asleep, when He went away.
In agony He prayed, more earnestly,
Kneeling there alone, in Gethsemane.

“Take this cup away, if it be Thy will,”
An angel appear’d, and gave strength to fill.
His sweat was as it were, great drops of blood,
In Gethsemane, was the Son of God!

Then came Judas, this Man to betray,
Drew near to kiss Him, then went his way.
Then men took Him from Gethsemane,
And He died on the cross of Calvary.

GO TO THE FOOT OF HIS CROSS

To the foot of the cross, we must go,
To be relieved of pain and sorrow.
Kneel there, my dear friend, kneel there today,
And all your sin will be washed away.

Kneel at His cross, cast your pride away,
Humbly admit, you need Him today.
Admit you are wrong, and God is right,
Then you will walk in His glorious Light.

When you kneel at His cross; this I know,
Your sins will be washed, whiter than snow.
You shall be washed by His precious Blood,
Sins are gone; washed away by the Flood.

Throw away your pride; at His cross kneel,
A divine experience, you shall feel.
Never again will you be the same,
You are now God’s child; in Jesus’ Name.

HE AROSE

He arose from the grave; He arose!
Can you imagine? can you suppose?
No way could death ever hold Him there,
He rose from that grave, are you aware?

He arose from the grave; He’s alive!
He rose from that grave; He did revive!
The pow’r of death could not hold Him there,
Not one any where, can ev’n compare!

For our many dark sins, He did die,
The cries of His own were “Crucify.”
To justify us He rose again,
That we might live; have eternal gain.

He rose from the grave; are you aware?
He rose; for death could not hold Him there.
Christ is now sitting at God’s right Hand,
To grant victory to ev’ry land.

HE CAME TO PAY OUR DEBT

Christ came to pay a debt He didn’t owe,
Came to Earth, God’s love to bestow.
Left the glory of Heav’n, just to die,
For the sins of man, make us awry.

He paid our debt, to set us all free,
Free from God’s wrath, and sin’s penalty.
‘Twas a debt, not one of us could pay,
So, in God’s wisdom, Christ was the “Way”.

Christ came in love, to save us from Hell,
He does not want any, there to dwell.
Just trust and accept God’s only Son,
And friend, eternal life, has begun!

He Condescended

Jesus did condescend, for you and me,
Leaving His Home in Heav’n, to set us free.
He came willingly, to die on that cross,
Bearing our sin, that we’d not be at loss.

Condescending, from KING to humble Man,
Voluntarily He came, to fill God’s plan.
He could have stayed, in His Home of beauty,
But He came instead, in love, not duty!

He lowered Himself, to our level,
So we could someday, in His Home dwell.
Mocked and degraded, for us He died,
Only then, did God open Heav’n wide.

Do you condescend, for any today?
Or just go about, in your uppish way?
You must treat others, as you’d have them do,
We must be more like Christ, both me and you.

What amzing and abundant love Jesus has for us!
He died on that horrid cross . . . for us!

HE REACHED DOWN

He reached down in love, and lifted me,
Into a life of true victory.
Out of a life in the heathen world,
Gave eternal life as my reward.

He reached down, as at His cross I knelt,
Such awesome peace, is what I felt.
I could feel Him, come into my heart,
As He promis’d me, He would not depart!

He reached down to one, as sinful as me,
And life became one of serenity.
All the sins I had done, now were gone,
Forgiv’n, for now ‘twas a brand new dawn.

When He reached down, my whole life changed,
My attitudes and actions, He rearranged.
It seemed as though love, flooded my soul,
When I gave Him control, He gave me new goals.

I’m so glad that He, reached down in love,
For He made me a child, of God above.
He died for me, the supreme price He paid,
On that horrid cross, His own life He laid.

Today He is reaching down to you,
Will you accept His loyal love so true?
He wants you to live with Him one day,
In glorious Heaven, far away!

IN THE SHADOW OF HIS CROSS

In the shadow of His cross, I kneel,
The love He bestows, I truly feel.
I gave up all vanity and pride,
For only then, would Jesus reside.

In the shadow of His cross, I knew,
That I was one of his chosen few.
One of God’s children, Jesus made me,
Privileged I am, for eternity.

In the shadow of His cross, I saw,
Without Jesus, I was deeply flaw’d.
My sin had left a dark crimson stain,
In that life, I did not want to remain.

In the shadow of His cross, I’d face,
Hatred, persecution and disgrace.
The hated Jesus, they would hate me,
He told me so, ‘twas no mystery.

In the shadow of my Saviour’s cross,
I see all I have, and count it loss.
Things of this world, are not my treasure,
Christ is my All, He’s far beyond measure.

Many things I saw, as I knelt that day,
And He assur’d me of a better way.
He made things clear, as I did repent,
I know His grace will be sufficient.

KNEEL AT HIS CROSS

In humility, at His cross I kneel,
The love flowing down, feels e’er so real.
Faith alone, led me to that awesome place,
Where there’s abundant compassion and grace.

It was at His cross, that I first could see,
The glorious Truth ‘bout eternity.
I had walked in darkness, e’er so long,
On that big broad road, with the devil’s throng.

I’m so glad I threw all my pride away,
And knelt at Your cross, that special day.
My life has changed, from darkness to light,
As I walk with You, in the pow’r of your might.

My ears were opened, as at Your cross I knelt,
I just can’t explain, how joyous I felt!
A brand new creation, You made of me,
You made me God’s child, for eternity.

My Altar Is His Cross

The cross is our altar, where we should kneel,
‘Tis the only place, where our soul will heal.
Jesus paid the price, we all should have paid,
All our horrendous sins, on Him, were laid.

Jesus paid our debt, we could never pay,
The will of His Father, He did obey.
He took our place, went where we should have been,
He paid the full penalty, of our sin.

To our altar, to the cross we must go,
Sincere words, from deep in our heart should flow.
Kneel at His cross, with a sacrifice of praise,
As honor to Him, we gratefully raise.

Our altar is His cross, we must go there,
If we want, God the Father’s love and care.
Cast out all pride, for humble we must be,
If we ever want, life eternally.

You can’t get to Heav’n, except thru’ the cross,
Without Jesus, ‘twould be a total loss.
A worldly life with Satan, leads to Hell,
Without Jesus, it is there you shall dwell.

To the cross of Christ Jesus, you must go,
To avoid the Lake of Fire, far below.
If you want Heav’n, just Jesus has the key,
Kneel at His cross, for life eternally.

NAIL SCARRED HANDS

Have you ever thought ‘bout our Saviour?
Dying on that Cross; so sinless and pure?
I oft’ think of His nail scarred Hands,
Scarred; for us, to loose sin’s hard bands.

I’ve thought about His Hands, with those scars,
That mankind, His holy Body did mar.
He suffered death that belonged to me,
Shed His precious Blood, to set me free!

Each and every person does sin,
There’s NO way, alone, God’s grace you’ll win.
Without Jesus, you’re God’s enemy!
You’ll end up in Hell, for eternity.

But there is some very good news, friend,
Hell does not have to be your final end!
This ‘JESUS’, with those nail scarred Hands,
Can give Heaven’s key; and loose sin’s bands.

Only JESUS can relieve God’s wrath,
Without Him, you’re on Hell’s path.
Only trust in Jesus makes you God’s friend,
Only Jesus, your soul can defend!

The only man-made things in Heav’n afar,
Are on those precious Hands; those nail scars.
Place your hand in His nail scarred Hand,
He’ll save your soul; He’ll loose your bands.

ON CALV’RY’S ROAD

Jeering crowds did compass and enclose Him,
Things thru’ Blood and tears to Him looked dim.
He looked for pity; none could be found,
Looking for comfort, instead they did hound.

They had no mercy as they beat our Lord,
His bones were exposed they’d cut him so hard.
All they that saw Him laughed Him to scorn.
His Head was Bloody from His ‘crown’ of thorns.

His visage was marred more than any man,
Despised, rejected, Him they did ban.
Stricken, afflicted, and smitten of God,
He bore our sins as Calv’ry’s road He trod.

Unending reproach did break His heart,
But from this shame He did not depart.
He became a stranger to His brothers,
Wasn’t recognized by them, or others.

He was so weak from the Blood He had lost,
But not e’vn once, did He regret the cost.
He just kept struggling up Calv’ry’s road,
He carried that ‘Cross’; such a heavy load.

When He reached the top of Calv’ry’s hill,
The crowd shouting terrible insults still.
They drove huge nails in His feet and hands,
He died in great agony, for all lands.

He took on the sins of the whole world,
As He hung on that ‘Cross’, our sins unfurled.
He paid that price to redeem our souls,
Our Lord and Saviour is in full control.

(Ps.22 & 69; Is.53)

ONCE, BACK THEN

Once, back then, God created the world,
He had a plan, and it unfurled.
The universe came from nothing at all,
It sprang into being at God’s call.

Once, back then, our Lord created man,
In His own image, it was His plan.
He formed us from the dust of the ground,
And gave us the breath of life profound.

Once, back then, long before God made us,
He chose us to be His children, precious.
Even before the world’s foundation,
He had called us from degradation.

Once, back then, God came in man’s body,
Born of a poor, young virgin, Mary.
He came to fulfill what the prophets told,
Fulfilling the Father’s plan of old.

Once, back then, on the Cross Jesus died,
To redeem our souls; He was crucified.
He paid the price we could never pay,
That we might live in Heav’n’s grand array.

Here and now; God offers you a gift,
He wants no one to wander adrift.
Eternal life is yours, thru’ God’s Son,
Accept Christ, and this life has just begun.

SALVATION’S PLAN

God sent His one Son to Earth, as Man,
‘Twas the Father’s wise, foreordained plan.
‘Fore the world was made, in Him, God chose us,
Praise the glory of His grace, so precious.

We have redemption thru’ Jesus’ Blood,
Our sins are forgiv’n, thru that crimson Flood.
All done by the riches of His grace,
Without Jesus, we’re a total disgrace.

All wisdom and prudence to us abound,
God’s good pleasure is simply profound.
An inheritance, thru’ Christ, we’ll obtain,
All the wonders of God will be our gain.

When we hear the Word of Truth, and believe,
The seal of Almighty God we receive.
This ‘seal’ is a promise of more to come,
‘Tis the earnest on our Heavenly Home.

The Holy Spirit of God then does abide,
Forever, with God’s children, He resides!
He’ll guide, direct, teach, and convict of sin,
And the peace, joy and rest, of Christ we win.

God the Father devised salvation’s plan,
That reaches out to each and ev’ry man.
God the Son paid all of salvation’s price,
God the Holy Spirit, the plan applies.

THE CHRIST OF CALV’RY’S ROAD?

Do you know the Christ of Calv’ry’s road?
The Christ that carried that heavy load?
Weary, stagg’ring; with head bowed low,
A Man acquainted with grief and sorrow.

Do you know the Christ of Calv’ry’s road?
The Christ that left His Heav’nly abode?
He condescended for you and me,
Paid our debt, and set our sinful soul free.

Do you know the Christ of Calv’ry’s road?
The Christ from whom that precious Blood flow’d?
He was despis’d; we esteem’d Him not,
Yet our very souls, this Christ, has bought.

Do you know the Christ of Calv’ry’s road?
He can help carry your greatest load.
Only this Christ can grant peace and rest,
Joy you will have; for you will be blest!

Do you know the Christ of Calv’ry’s way?
If not, He cries out, to you today!
This Christ can grant eternal life above,
Heav’n will be yours, by His wondrous love!

THE CROWN AND CROSS WERE HIS . . . Mar.2002, 2016 Message

They borrowed a manger, to use as a bed,
For the precious Babe Jesus, to lay His Head!
They borrowed a colt, for Christ Jesus to ride,
A colt on which no one, had e’er been astride!

Christ borrowed bread, high on the mountain side,
That the crowd’s hunger, might be satisfied!
He borrowed two little fish, from a young lad,
In all the people there, ‘twas all to be had.

Jesus borrowed a boat, in which He sat and taught,
For the great multitude, His vast wisdom sought!
He borrowed a friend’s house, that He might rest,
They lovingly obliged, to this most special Guest!

They borrowed a room, the Last Supper to eat,
An Upper Room, that was high up off the street.
From a very rich man, they borrowed a grave,
Jesus’ sepulcher was a small, lonely cave.

The crown of thorns they crushed, on His precious Head,
Was not a borrowed crown, but His own instead!
The crown of thorns He wore, was His very own,
That dreadful, horrendous crown; was His alone.

The cross that He carried, so very painfully,
Is the cross where He died, in great agony.
That old rugged cross He bore, was His very own,
The cross where He bled and died, was His alone.

THE FATHER WAS WATCHING

Christ Jesus was poor, I say with no dread,
A manger’s hay, was a pillow for His Head.
Born in a cold barn, with cattle and sheep,
But the Father was watching, to safely keep.

The Father was watching Herod’s evil schemes,
He safely removed Jesus, from the scene.
Swiftly to Egypt, the fam’ly did flee,
To be kept from harm’s way, so carefully.

As the Boy grew, the Father was watching,
In each day, was God’s abundant blessings.
The Boy’s wisdom astounded the Pharisees,
This Child of knowledge and great mystery.

When John the Baptist, did baptize our Lord,
The Father was watching; spoke special words.
“I am well pleased, with my beloved Son,”
I’m sure those around were completely stunn’d.

The Father was watching in Christ’s ministry,
As He spoke of His true identity.
“He that sees me, has seen the Father too,”
Jesus was saying, He was God thru’ and thru’.

That night, in the Garden of Gethsemane,
The Father was watching, e’er so closely.
“Let this cup pass from Me, but Thy will be done,”
These tormenting words, from God’s own Son.

As they unmercifully scourged God’s dear Son,
Our Saviour’s agony had just begun.
He then hung on the cross, and died for me,
While the Father was watching excruciatingly.

THE FOOT OF THE CROSS

When at the foot of the cross I knelt,
O’erwhelming grief for my sins I felt.
But that great burden roll’d far away,
As I knelt at His cross, that special day.

As I knelt there, peace flooded my soul,
Welcome relief, for conflict took its toll.
Each day anew was worry and stress,
But kneeling there, God truly did bless.

Kneeling at His cross, the tears did flow,
Removing from me, all my sorrow.
Tension and strife had never left me,
But as I knelt, these things did flee.

Joy rushed o’er me, as I did kneel,
‘Twas so amazing, how I did feel.
Jesus’ Presence was ever so near,
Kneeling there, He cast out all my fear.

My life has chang’d, since that day gone by,
For I no longer, my Lord deny.
He made a new person out of me,
He made me a child of God eternally.

To be “born again” you too must go,
And humbly kneel in the cross’ shadow.
Tell Jesus: “I trust my all to Thee,”
And He’ll give you life eternally.

THREE CROSSES . . . Mar.2008 Mmessage

On Calvary’s hill, three horrid crosses stand,
Three men hang there, nail’d in their feet and hands.
The piercing of the nails, impels them to cry,
Three on crosses hang, sillouettes against the sky.

The ONE in the midst, spoke words brief and few,
“Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.”
Words from parched lips, from ONE who truly cares,
Interceding for His enemies, in this short prayer!

On either side of Christ, were two common thieves,
The one would soon obtain, an eternal reprieve.
“Remember me, O Lord,” repently he cries,

“Today thou shalt be with Me in Paradise.”

John stood with His mother, her comfort to seek,
This beloved disciple, then heard Jesus speak:

“Behold, thy mother; woman, behold thy son,”
These tender words from their greatly loved ONE.

As Christ hung dying in anguish, sad and alone,
This ONE with the purest heart, this world has e’er known.
A woeful utterance bursts forth; heart-felt agony,

“My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?”

“I thirst;” His thirst was almost more than He could bear,
But vinegar was all that was offered there.
But the breaking Heart, of the Saviour of man,
Would not retreat, from God’s redemption Plan!

“It is finished,” His Work on the Cross was done,
This humble Man, who was truly God’s own Son!

“Father, into Thy Hands,” our precious Saviour cries,
“I commend My Spirit;” and then so bravely dies!

But is He dead? Nay! Our Lord Jesus did arise!
O that we would shout it to the highest skies!
Nothing could hold Him, behind His tomb’s dark door,
He lives! He lives! And He will live for ever more!

Our Lord spoke seven memorable "words" from the cross:

  • (1) Luke 23:34;
  • (2) Luke 23:43;
  • (3) John 19:26;
  • (4) Matthew 27:46, Mark 15:34;
  • (5) John 19:28;
  • (6) John 19:30;
    (7) Luke 23:46.

Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. (KJV)
Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him,
Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. (KJV)
Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. (KJV)
John 19:26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother,
Woman, behold thy son! (KJV)
John 19:27 Then saith he to the disciple,
Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home. (KJV)
John 19:28-30 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith,
I thirst. [29] Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. [30] When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. (KJV)

THOSE THREE DARK HOURS

When Jesus hung on that cross, without ev’n one friend,
Those three hours of darkness, I cannot comprehend!
‘Twas a private time, between the Father and Son,
When my sin debt was paid, and Christ’s battle was won!

There is NO way, I can comprehend Jesus’ love,
Coming to Earth to die, leaving Heaven above!
He left the comfort of Heav’n’s safety, to endure great agony,
For the likes of a nobody, like sinful me!

NO earthly mortal, this kind of love could possess,
We are filled way too much, with worldly wickedness.
We are blessed indeed, to access this kind of love,
In this evil, immoral world, of push and shove!

In those three hours of darkness, Christ took on my sins,
The devil was jubilant, he thought he would win!
But it was Christ Jesus, who had the victory,
In those three hours of darkness; that Godly mystery!

Jesus paid my full sin debt, in those dark three hours,
Ne’er did He doubt, fear, hesitate, waver or cower!
He tolerated all, that agony and pain,
Ne’er did He protest, object, grumble or complain.

The suffering that He endured, for you and for me,
Was love indescribable, that set our souls free!
Jesus’ love surpasses all, that we could ever know,
We’re privileged indeed, that on us His love does flow!

Have you e’er considered, those three hours of darkness?
When our precious Saviour, brought us such great success?
Have you thanked Him, for providing the only Way,
That we might access, Heav’n’s glorious beauty one day?

That this general darkness was totally supernatural is evident that it happened at the Passover, which was celebrated ONLY at the full moon, a time in which it was impossible for the sun to be eclipsed, natural eclipses happening only at the time of the new moon.

TO EARTH, GOD CAME

Born of a virgin, to Earth He came,
Own Son of God, Jesus is His Name.
Suff’ring on the cross, pain and agony,
To remove God’s wrath, from you and me.

He died on that cross, yet our Lord lives!
In His love and mercy, He forgives.
When we turn to Christ, our lives do change,
Motives and attitudes, He’ll rearrange,

To be God’s child, believe on Christ’s Name,
With God as your Father, ‘tis such great gain.
All sins of the past, are cast aside,
And the Holy Spirit, will reside.

We are granted, Jesus’ righteousness,
It replaces, all our wickedness.
We are no longer, God’s enemy,
We’re now His child, for eternity.

He willingly left, the glory of Heav’n,
To accept the task, His Father had giv’n.
To Earth He came, tho’ He knew He’d die,
On our Saviour, God’s Son, let us rely.

TRUE LOVE

True love will not disappoint, ever,
It flows calmly, like a gentle river!
True love will not grieve, nor make you cry,
It soars like an eagle, in the blue sky!

True love wishes only the best for you,
It tries from all wickedness, to rescue.
True love helps, in ev’ry circumstance,
It knows when you’re sad, at the briefest glance!

True love gives great peace, down in your heart,
It urges you, from stress to depart.
True love, to wondrous joy, gives access,
‘Tis an awesome ‘gift’ that continues to bless!

True love forgives us, when we do wrong,
Helping us to forgive, making us strong!
True love always seems to make things right,
Whether it’s deep darkness, or broad daylight!

The love of God is good, and kind and true,
With mercy to astound, both me and you!
God sent His Son, that we might have a ‘Way,’
To live in Heaven, with Him some day!

The true love of Jesus, Saviour and Lord,
Is something that anyone can well afford!
True love Jesus showed, when He paid the price,
Death on the Cross, a supreme Sacrifice!

No one can show true love more than He,
Great compassion Christ shows, to you and me!
This true love of Jesus, you can access,
Ask Christ into your heart, and God will bless.
